About the game
Joy Mech Fight is a classic 2d style fighter for the Famicom.
There's a twist though.
Despite the drastically different game play style, the story progresses much like a MegaMan game.
You control a robot named after a musical style (Skapon is a play on Ska-Punk I'm pretty sure), who was created by two scientists who were longtime friends.
However, one day, one of the scientists decided that he looked silly with a big "Friends!" cloud behind him.
So in an attempt to change his image, he has decided to steal all of the robots that he and his colleague had built together, and take over the world with them.
Skapon has to battle the other robots and save the world!
Similar to MegaMan gaining the powers of the defeated robots, you gain the ability to control the defeated robots!
So basically, if MegaMan was an arcade style fighter, it would be just like this... wait a second... they did have a MegaMan arcade fighter... and it was nothing like this!
Oh well, scratch that.
Either way it's a great game, and you should give it a try!
About this translation
This is the complete English translation for this game, and the only version I actually ever released.
It was kind of done as a break from working on my bigger translation projects at the time.
I chose it because it was a very fun game, and didn't look like it would take long to translate.
I had actually already contributed with spot translation requests and such for various projects from other groups, but had no complete projects of my own.
So I figured this would be a reasonably quick game to finish and show people that I was capable of seeing something through to completion.
It had more text than I initially thought, but was still pretty quick, and most importantly, very entertaining to translate.
I hope you have as much fun with this game as I have.
Why are the robots' hands and feet not attached to them?
One possibility is that these futuristic robots have an incredible amount of control over magnetic fields.
This allows them to attract magnetic materials in their body, and repel diamagnetic materials body, effectively levitating parts of them, while keeping the basic body form in tact.
This theory is however flawed, since during battle, the magnetic fields of each robot would overlap and make the delicate control necessary, impossible.
A more popular theory is that the robots are in fact marionettes, controlled by the scientists from their UFO's.
The most likely explanation however is that the creators of the game had time machines.
They used these time machines to go into the future, where they became avid Bobites(fanatic Eskimo Bob fans).
Inspired by the animation style of Eskimo Bob they returned to their own time and based the robots' limbs on their favorite web cartoon of the future.
If you find any bugs
As with all of my translations, I encourage you to let me know if you find anything wrong with it.
I'll be the first to admit that my English typing skills are sometimes a little sub-par.
I studied sciences and engineering to avoid such things =p.
I try to check everything over as best as I can to hide this fact, but I'm not perfect.
So if you find any typos or glitches, please let me know so I can hopefully put out a corrected version of it later.
